A pencil and music have been my companions since childhood.

Today, painting gives me space to be with myself. It lets me enjoy the simple act of creating, the joy of bringing a painting to life on a blank white canvas. Setting aside the world around me, I let feeling guide my brush, following where I am at that moment.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to do things myself, learn from my own mistakes and open doors on my own.

I taught myself to draw and paint in much the same way, through experimentation and exploration.

That makes it all the more rewarding to meet people who connect with my paintings and find something of their own in them.

For more than twenty years, my passion for painting took a back seat to my professional life. I trained as a dentist and run my own dental practice, which naturally came first. There was little time left for something that had been part of me since childhood. At times, my brushes, paints and canvases stood untouched.

But I have grown ready for change. A gradual change. I am beginning to make room for self-expression and the joy of creating to eventually come first.

I work mainly in oils, but also use acrylics, pastels, markers, ink and pencil.
Some of my paintings combine different media.

Oil painting gives me the most creative freedom, but I also feel at home with simplified forms and strong contrasts. Sometimes this means a black line or areas of canvas left unpainted.

People are an endless source of inspiration for me.

Sometimes a fragment of a body or face is enough. I love watching what I put on the canvas begin to come alive.
